Evaluation Question 4

Media Technologies-

To begin with I used a HD camera to film our adverts as it is a better quality then none HD camera's. We used an Olympus Pen which allowed us to manually focus shots that where tricky due to lighting and weather conditions. It also helped us to film tricky shots such as the puddle shot with the reflection at the beginning of our track advert.

Blogger is the technology that is most used through out the whole course of producing these videos and the blog. It is a free blogging site linked with google and is easy to use. It allows you to embed videos from sites such as Youtube and Vimeo. It is also very pleasant on the eye as it allows you to add themes and change the colours to your preference.

Powerpoint-
As Blogger allows you to embed a lot of things it also allows you to put on photos so a lot of my posts I created on powerpoint then converted them as JPEGS and put them on to Blogger. Powerpoint is much easier to work with as its more flexible with moving around photos and text.

Infogram- I used infogram to help present my results from my audience research. It is a website that allows you to create graphs that you can embed on to blogger then once they are posted you can then interact with the graph on your Blogger post.

Corel-
This software is essential to the editing of our films.
You can also add on titles, transitions, music and voice overs. It is easy to use and is easy to find your way around. Luckily the college provides this software else it would prove difficult for us to edit together out videos.

Vimeo-
this website is free and allows you to upload videos to share with friends and view other peoples creative videos. This site also allows you to share videos from this website by giving you a share button which you can link to social networking sites and you can also copy a link to embed your videos in to sites such as blogger. Its easy to use and you can sign up for free.

Props and Costume

Audience Research

I wanted to find out what sort of adverts people found entertaining and enjoyed the most and their general opinion on them. Also to find out in their opinion on what makes a good advert, their favourite advert and what sort of media they use to be exposed to adverts.

- Questionnaire

I handed out 10 questionnaires to a mixed gender group of roughly the same age group. Here is an example of my questionnaire, one filled out and one not.

What have I learnt from doing this?
I have learnt that the public enjoy and remember generally humorous adverts more then others. All of my audience were 18 and under making them students. They all enjoyed similar genres of films for example comedy and thrillers and also watched similar channels such as E4 and BBC3 which is the sort of channel I would choose to put my adverts on.

Actor Profiles

Textual analysis of main text- Musashi Protein BULK Mass Gain Advert

Musashi Protein BULK Mass Gain Advert

Conclusion: what I have learnt from doing this textual analysis is that to get the best result consistency and structure is best. For example the consistency of the dramatic lighting is on every shot of the advert with gives the advert a unique feel as well as giving a good visual effect making the actor the main focal point. Another example is the length of every shot is pretty much the same which draws the viewers attention to the advert as a whole as it's more exciting to watch. I think I will try and take some tips from this advert such as the structure of using repetitive shots from one character to another as I feel it works really well.

Story Board Advert 1- Gym

We made this story board to help us make sure we used a range of different shots within our advert and to also make it easier for us to film as we knew what we wanted to achieve when filming. It helped us to gather our thoughts and ideas and it is also a good way of showing evidence of our planning.
